Compactor trucks compress trash items to maximize the number of loads that can be transported at one time. In 1986, our company started building refuse container bodies to be assembled on imported compactor heads. The following year, we started making our own refuse compactors.
In December 1995, we were awarded a contract
by the Ministry of the Environment (ENV) to
produce 300 units of compactors to be
delivered within 16 months.
The compactor was to be equipped with bin lifting device suitable for various types of bins used by HDB. This was the biggest single contract ever given for mobile refuse compactors in Singapore. The mobile compactors were to be deployed at all the HDB bin centres in Singapore.
In April 1996 the first prototype was built by us and tested by The National Environmental Agency (ENV) engineers at a HDB bin centre over a period of 2 weeks. By end April, series production started and all 300 units were delivered by February 1997.
